The Sony FX3 is a full-frame cinema camera featuring a 12.1MP Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor paired with a BIONZ XR processor for professional video production. The camera captures UHD 4K video at rates up to 120p and 1080p at up to 240p, with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, 16-bit raw output via HDMI, and support for multiple gamma options including S-Log3, S-Cinetone, and HLG. Built on a compact, cage-free design optimized for handheld solo operation, the FX3 delivers the full-frame advantages of shallow depth of field, extensive dynamic range exceeding 15 stops, and an expanded ISO range of 80 to 409,600 for reliable performance across varied lighting conditions.

The FX3 incorporates a Fast Hybrid AF system with 627 phase detection points covering approximately 89% of the frame, enabling real-time tracking and eye autofocus for precise focus during dynamic shots. The camera features professional audio inputs via a detachable XLR adapter handle, dual SD/CFexpress card slots for simultaneous recording and backup, and 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization. Additional capabilities include wireless connectivity for remote control and file transfer, tally lamps positioned on the front, rear, and top for crew coordination, and compatibility with Sony's Cinema Line workflow through firmware 2.0 updates.
