ECM-B1M Shotgun Microphone

The Sony ECM-B1M is an ultra-compact camera-mount digital shotgun microphone designed specifically for Sony cameras equipped with the Multi Interface Shoe. It features eight high-performance microphone capsules and advanced digital signal processing that delivers three selectable directivity patterns—supercardioid, cardioid, and omnidirectional—to suit various recording situations. The microphone connects directly to the camera via the Multi Interface Shoe, providing digital audio output on compatible Sony models like the a7R IV, while a switch allows analog output compatibility with other Sony cameras.

The ECM-B1M delivers a 106 dB dynamic range and 120 dB maximum SPL in a remarkably compact 3.91-inch form factor, making it ideal for mobile video creators. Its integrated controls include record level adjustment, a -10 to -20 dB pad, and a digital low-cut filter to minimize subsonic noise and handling artifacts. The cable-free design is powered directly through the Multi Interface Shoe, and the included fur windscreen helps reduce wind noise for outdoor recording applications.
